I am currently an NIHR academic clinical fellow in ENT. I have pursued an academic career since intercalating a Masters in Research at medical school; I enjoyed clinical research and it pushed me to join the Academic Foundation Programme in Oxford. There I was able to choose my own research topic; and used the time to gain lab experience, which I loved as it provided a great change of pace from clinical work whilst remaining an intellectual challenge.

After a year out to gain clinical experience in ENT, I applied to the UCL ACF. Being in London has given me the opportunity to work in world-class hearing research facilities. I currently split my time between lab science at the Ear Institute and more clinically orientated work with EvidENT. My supervisors are world leaders in their field; an amazing springboard which has helped me to build a network which links between the multiple disciplines working in hearing loss. My academic time is allowing me to get an overview of the entire field, whilst developing translational research interests and ideas which I plan to take forward to a PhD.
