London is an exceptional place to learn and practice medicine. There is a unique diversity of students, patients and services and a long history of providing excellent and world renowned medical education.
The Department of Health consultation on the Expansion of Undergraduate Medical Education, published Monday 14 March 2017, sets out the transformative plans to increase the total number of students studying medicine across England and to remove the cap on the number of students from overseas studying at English medical schools.
This expansion of student numbers is an excellent opportunity for London’s five medical schools to showcase London as a rich and vibrant learning environment where innovative education opportunities can be offered to attract these students.
London Medicine will be working with all London medical schools to provide a London-wide response to the consultation and to ensure London takes a coordinated approach in offering more students an opportunity to study medicine in this unique city whilst ensuring a high quality experience for all.
